“You have been away too long.
Say, what will it take to bring you back to school ?”

Mark your calendar for the 75th anniversary grand finale of St. Joseph’s E.T. High School, Valsad in 2011. Sr. Lilia Fernandes, a great visionary and the current Principal has taken the initiative to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the school with a grand gala 3 day exclusive get-together for all ex-students from December 16 – 18, 2011. We take the opportunity to cordially invite you along with your spouse and family to join in the celebrations and immerse yourselves in nostalgic memories. However, a formal invitation will be mailed to you on receipt of your Registration Form. This is a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends and faculty, meet current school students and teachers, and to engage in dynamic discussions on some of the latest happenings on various interesting topics.

For some of us it has been quite a long time since we attended or graduated from St. Joseph’s School. Much in all of us has changed. Much of the world around us has changed but the spirit, memory and nostalgia of the good old days is still alive. This has left some of us with the idea of organizing a reunion lingering in our minds although no one took the lead for this desire for quite some time. However, this dream is coming true through the initiative of our current Principal Sr. Lilia Fernandes and some ex-students.

There are a good many Josephites who have walked through the portals of St. Joseph’s E.T. High School, Valsad, for the last time, swallowing that lump in the throat. Now is a chance for old students to come together to celebrate their alma mater’s 75th birthday. SJC Diamond Jubilee Executive Committee comprising of well established local ex students and current teachers has been formed with a purpose of channelizing efforts to upgrade this institution in various ways. All students, staff and well-wishers who have passed through the portals of this hallowed institution are invited to add to the sparkle, by your presence and munificence.

Several sub-committees viz cultural, souvenir, venue management, finance, reception, registration, banquet, catering, fund raising etc have been formed to take care of specialized assignments. Each of these committees are spending considerable time in chalking out quality programs that we will witness during the 3 day celebrations which is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and entertainment. It’s the first time that our school is organizing a function of such a magnitude especially for the ex-students. The excitement amongst the students is very much evident as they all are raring to put in their best effort so as to make it the “Best Show Of the 75 Years Of Existence Of The School”.

It will be a grand gala glamorous extravaganza with an elite audience of cream citizens of the town, high ranking government officials, educationists, industrialists, businessmen, ex-teachers and ex-students. We have contacted and are in process of contacting all the ex-students spread through out the world. The encouragement received from students settled in the US, UK, UAE, Indonesia, Libya, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Africa, Australia as well as in India has boosted our confidence to a great extent. Many of them are really well established and occupy high positions in multinational companies.

In the Diamond Jubilee year the school plans to undertake following major projects :

     • Expansion of infrastructure
         • by constructing additional XI & XII standard classes
         • commencement of Arts Section.
     • Provision of parking lot
     • Provision of playground

In order to accomplish the above projects, the school plans to acquire a sizeable piece of land in the vicinity or say some 3 km away from the present school building which would serve all purposes for the benefit of the next generation and to achieve academic excellence. All said and done, you will concur that acquiring land followed by construction and development is a big project and would incur substantial costs as per real estate market rates prevailing today.

Looking to the impending school projects and the gala extravaganza, you will appreciate that the school management cannot handle the celebrations on their own as it needs a lot funds. The DJ Executive Committee of ex-students, has, therefore, assured and decided to assist the school financially to meet the major expenses that would incur during the celebrations by generating funds through donations, sponsorships, advertisements etc. I am sure your love for the school is also overwhelming and you will leave no stone unturned to assist and contribute in the best possible way towards our campaign of generating funds for the celebrations & projects for the simple reason that “Your Contribution and Participation Is Our Budget and Recipe To Success”.

At this juncture, on behalf of the DJ Executive Committee, we take the liberty to most humbly and earnestly appeal to you for a generous voluntary donation to realize the vision of the school. An early contribution will go a long way and help us in meeting the initial expenses required for the launch of the celebrations. Contributions are welcome in form of cash or cheque/demand draft in favour of ‘A/c No. 290010110007130 – Society of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters, St. Joseph’s Convent, Diamond Jubilee Account’, payable at Bank of India, Valsad, Gujarat.
